Is it still necessary to praise the immense qualities of this opera, while some dwell on the weaknesses of the libretto?
The worldwide success of Trovatore is enough to sweep away these reservations. Arias, cabalettes, duets, trios, large choruses... all the ingredients of Verdian genius are present. Added to these qualities is the marvellous heroic romanticism of the score.
Carried by a dazzling cast, the voices of Trovatore will rise in the night of the Théâtre Antique, and the magic will work once again.
