Everyone knows the famous opening of La Forza del Destino. Yet it is only the prelude to an exceptional drama that unfolds over several years and features characters ‘larger than life’. An immense fresco of love and war, the work gives pride of place to the great choruses, who so magnificently fill the space of the ancient theatre. The soloists, meanwhile, each find their moment of bravery or introspection.
The Chorégies, in co-production with the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, are delighted to welcome back Maestro Daniele Rustioni, who triumphed here in memorable performances of La Traviata.
